Vive nell\u2018emisfero sud, principalmente in Nuova Zelanda, Australia e generalmente intorno alle fosse oceaniche vicine al Giappone, oltre che lungo le coste della Patagonia: predilige, infatti, le acque sub-antartiche.<\/p>\n<p>Se gli esemplari pi\u00f9 giovani vivono a profondit\u00e0 di circa 400-1000 metri, quelli adulti possono essere trovati anche a 1500 metri. Il nasello raggiunge una lunghezza massima di 1,2 m, un peso di 1,5-2,0 kg e i 25 anni di et\u00e0.
