Si pu\u00f2 distinguere dal merluzzo grazie alla linea nera sul lato e alla macchia scura sopra la pinna pettorale. L\u2018eglefino preferisce in genere acque lontane dalla costa, ma la sua sensibilit\u00e0 alle temperature lo fa spostare in base alle acque e alle condizioni nutritive.<\/p>\n<p>Cresce fino a una lunghezza massima di 1 m, raggiungendo un peso di 15 kg e i 20 anni di et\u00e0. Si tratta di uno dei pesci magri di maggior valore: questo significa che le sue carni sono povere di grassi ma ricche di proteine e vitamine.
